Psychosocial Well-Being at Work: Global Insights, Local Action

The International Research Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IRIOSH), Canada, invites the submission of original book chapters for an international edited volume titled:

Psychosocial Well-Being at Work: Global Insights, Local Action.


Developed in commemoration of World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026 and aligned with the International Labour Organization (ILO) theme, this book aims to bring together diverse perspectives on psychosocial well-being, workplace mental health, organizational culture, leadership, policy, and occupational safety and health systems.

Building upon the success of the IRIOSH Global Occupational Safety and Health Forum 2026, which brought together participants from multiple countries across academia, government, industry, and professional practice, this publication seeks to transform dialogue into actionable knowledge that can support healthier, safer, and more sustainable workplaces worldwide.


We welcome contributions from:

  • Researchers and academics 
  • Occupational safety and health professionals 
  • Public health professionals 
  • Regional OSH regulators 
  • Policymakers and government officials 
  • Industry leaders and employers 
  • International organizations 
  • Professional associations 
  • Consultants and practitioners 
  • Emerging scholars and subject matter experts 


The edited volume will provide a platform for evidence-based research, policy analysis, practical experiences, case studies, and innovative approaches that address contemporary workplace challenges and opportunities.

Contributors are encouraged to explore topics including, but not limited to:

  • Psychosocial risk management 
  • Workplace mental health and well-being 
  • Leadership, culture, and psychological safety 
  • Burnout, stress, and resilience 
  • Shift work, fatigue, and worker health 
  • Occupational safety and health systems 
  • Policy, governance, and regulation 
  • Industry-specific challenges and solutions 
  • Public health and healthy workplaces 
  • Future of work and emerging workplace risks 


Chapter Structure

Authors are encouraged to organize their chapters using the following structure:

  3. Challenges 
  4. The Way Forward 
  5. Conclusion 
  6. References 


Manuscript Requirements

  • Length: 5–10 pages 
  • Approximately 250–300 words per page 
  • Excluding tables, figures, and references 
  • Original and unpublished work 
  • Professional or academic referencing style

Authors are encouraged to align their chapters with one or more relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly, but must ALIGHN with the theme "Psychosocial Well-Being at Work: Global Insights, Local Action":

(2) Full Chapter Submission Deadline - July 17, 2026

(3) IRIOSH Editorial Review Period - July – September 2026

(4) Acceptance / Rejection Decisions - October 17, 2026

(5) Final Manuscript Submission - November 2026

(6) Anticipated Publication of the Book - 2027

All submissions will undergo a rigorous editorial and peer-review process to ensure academic quality, relevance, originality, and practical impact. Acceptance is based on scholarly merit, relevance to the theme, and contribution to advancing occupational safety, health, worker well-being, and sustainable workplaces.
